What Is Reiki?
Reiki is made of up two Japanese words Rei meaning “Higher Power” and Ki meaning “life force energy.”
Reiki has been used to help with relaxation and stress reduction and possible healing.
This is based on the idea that unforeseen energy that flows through each of us if low can cause disease and illness. If the life force is high, then we have good health and happiness.
What Happens During a Treatment?
You will lay down on a table or recline in a chair. Dr. Burns will put her hands on you or over you at a few locations like your head, feet, stomach, etc. Quite music is usually played during the session.
What Should I Notice During the Session?
A treatment of Reiki can feel warm and relaxing. Many people feel calmer, more at peace, less stressed, and more secure after a Reiki session.
Some people stated that after the treatment they feel more energy, while others noted that later in the day they feel tired. If you do feel tired that’s ok it’s just your body’s natural healing response.
How Long Does a Session Last?
A session will last about 15-30 minutes.
Is Reiki Popular in Mainstream Medicine?
Reiki has been featured on the Dr. Oz Show. Dr. Oz has all his surgical patients receive reiki 30 minutes before and after surgery. Dr. Oz noticed that the healing time of his patients was faster when Reiki was administered compared to when it wasn’t with his patients.
