What is H. Pylori?

H. Pylori, Helicobacter pylori, is a little bacteria that lives in the stomach. It is common to cause peptic ulcers. Some researchers think that over half of the world’s population of humans has H. Pylori. Most people who have H. Pylori are asymptomatic.

What are some symptoms of H. Pylori?

  • A burning sensation in the abdomen.
  • Abdominal pain that is worse on an empty stomach
  • Nausea
  • Loss of appetite
  • Frequent burping
  • Bloating
  • Weight loss

Risk Factors for H. Pylori

H. Pylori can be spread through unsanitary conditions like poor drinking water and poor sewage systems. Sharing food with someone who has H. Pylori. Because H. Pylori can be spread from feces and saliva.

If left untreated H. Pylori can cause ulcers, stomach inflammation and pain, and possible stomach cancer.
